A Court Has Rejected This Planned Parenthood Talking Point as Completely False

It’s a great week for the pro-life movement.

The March for Life took place today in Washington, D.C. Over a hundred thousand people from across the country (and across the world) marched for the millions of lives that have been snuffed out by the abortion industry since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling in 1973.  It’s an amazing show of solidarity from people from many different walks of life.

But it gets even better.

On January 17, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rejected Planned Parenthood’s argument that the undercover videos of Planned Parenthood executives and doctors admitting to breaking laws and violating medical ethics in order to profit from selling aborted baby parts could not be relied upon by Texas to defund Planned Parenthood.

This is significant. When David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress released these undercover videos in 2015, Planned Parenthood repeatedly claimed that the videos were deceptively edited to make Planned Parenthood look bad.

Turns out Planned Parenthood only has itself to thank for that.

The court noted a forensic film analysis indicated the videos were “authentic and not deceptively edited.”  It also ruled that Planned Parenthood is not likely to succeed on its claim that Texas was wrong to terminate it as a qualified Medicaid provider based on evidence that Planned Parenthood violated both medical ethics as well as the law – as the undercover videos made abundantly clear.

The court explained that Texas’s decision to stop Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood is based on evidence of “numerous violations of generally accepted standards of medical practice” shown by the CMP video footage, including “a history of deviating from accepted standards to procure samples that meet researcher[s’] needs” and “a history of permitting staff physicians to alter procedures to obtain targeted tissue samples needed for their specific outside research” – as well as the state’s finding that PP “engaged in misrepresentations regarding fetal tissue procurement.”

The bottom line is that Planned Parenthood was caught on film admitting to illegally selling aborted baby parts. Their one defense has been to say that the films were deceptively edited. But that talking point has now been discredited by a federal appeals court.

Even when caught on tape, Planned Parenthood continues to lie. And this is an organization that our taxpayer dollars continue to fund – to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

No American should be forced to fund an organization that has been caught breaking the law on film, and then lying about it.

It’s hard to see how Planned Parenthood is going to talk its way out of this one.
